Story of friendship - Madagascar Reviews

Madagascar was great!! My 4 year old loved the action, as well as many of the jokes. What was even better was that the jokes were great for the adults, too. The storyline was focused on the importance of friendship, and I will push that even further with my daughter with the fact that all of the friends were very different from one another. Yet they cared for one another and proved that friendship knows no bounds (especially when your best friend tries to eat you, as Alex the Lion did to Marty the Zebra!). The only negative I could see about this film is that there were too many "main characters". There wasn't real focus on just the four animals that escaped the Central Park Zoo. However, with a movie geared towards kids, this is not necessarily a negative for them. They love for things to move fast and shift around, so children everywhere will most likely fall in love with all the characters involved. This movie reminded me of "The Lion King", but I expected that with it having a lion as a featured character. Better than a lot of kids' flicks lately (Robots, Shark Tale, others), but probably won't be remembered like "Shrek". All in all a great, funny film that will remind even us adults who watch with our children that friendship is one of the most important things we can achieve in our lifetime.
